A Swale resident contacted the Fuel and Water Home Adviser to get free support improving her home. She is a single parent with 3 young children, struggling to keep the house warm and large debt with water, gas and electricity.

The adviser, Stevie, then spoke to utility companies on her behalf, arranging payment plans and getting the resident onto a better electricity tariff.

They also applied for the Warm Homes discount which will took £140.00 off her bill in March 2022. She also discovered the resident's water tariff had been incorrect and organised for the overpayment to be refunded.

Stevie also helped the resident get a smart meter to keep an eye on electricity usage, installed LEDs, reset the programmer on her boiler, and altered the thermostat - all to help save energy and money.

They also fitted radiator reflector panels behind the radiators in the children’s bedrooms and behind the radiator in the lounge, reducing heat loss by 45%, reflecting 95% of wasted heat energy back into the room.
