The greenhouse gases from transport contributes to the carbon footprint of the food you eat.

Making the decision to buy products that are made locally helps reduce those greenhouse gases, reduce the effects of climate change. Of course, it also helps grow the local economy too.

However, the most effective way to reduce the carbon footprint of your diet is to reduce animal products.

The Climate and Ecological Emergency Action Plan aims to promote low carbon food, for example vegan and vegetarian diets using seasonal, local sources to support local food networks.

Did you know, the production of one beef burger uses as much water as 60 showers, with industrial beef farming contributing massively to both deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions. The 13 biggest dairy companies in the world have the same greenhouse gas emissions as the whole of the UK, meaning changing the way we consume food is integral to combating the climate crisis.
