No Mow May

We've lost approximately 97% of our flower-rich meadows since the 1930's,  severely damaging pollinator populations such as bees and butterflies.  That's why  Plantlife launched their famous No-Mow-May, which encourages the owners of Britain's 20 million gardens to forgo mowing their lawns for just a month.

Doing this means the lawn can produce longer grasses and a mix of wildflowers which provide food for pollinators, tackles pollution, reduces the effects of urban heat extremes and locks away carbon below ground.

Each year for No Mow May,  Kent County Council has been asking people to pledge to take part, allowing a measurement of the amount of land participating, and to help raise further awareness of the scheme.
